Crews respond to Utah County wildfire, structures threatened

SALT LAKE CITY — A wildfire in Utah County is currently threatening structures and burning several acres.

Utah Fire Info posted to Facebook Wednesday evening, saying the Hub City Fire is burning on a hillside in Cedar Hills.

According to the post, the Utah County fire began on private property and has spread onto U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service lands.

As of 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, the fire is an estimated 14 acres and structures are threatened, according to Justin Roach with the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands. The fire is 20% contained.

Utah Fire Info said the fire is human-caused.

Battalion Chief Brandon Boshard with the American Fork Fire Department said the fire began in the foothills of Mount Timpanogos.

He said 60 to 70 firefighters are working on containing the fire and their biggest priority is to protect homes in the area.

At this time, the biggest concern is the shifting wind, according to Boshard. He said crews will most likely work through the night.

Crews ask people to avoid the area.
