SALT LAKE CITY — Buying eggs has become more difficult in Utah, with multiple stores seeing a shortage.
KSL NewsRadio checked several stores for eggs, encountering customers who were also on the hunt.
At Costco, locations in Salt Lake City and West Valley both had signs apologizing for not having eggs in stock.

Utah Department of Agriculture and Food spokesperson Bailee Woolstenhulme said a recall is partly to blame.
“Costco did have a major recall on a lot of their eggs due to salmonella risk.”
Staff at both Costco locations told KSL NewsRadio it could take a month or two before eggs return.
It’s not just Costco facing an egg shortage though. A nearby Harmons was out of eggs too.
Woolstenhulme said the state’s shortages are also due to a major egg supplier in Utah still recovering from the bird flu outbreak.
There’s no telling how long it’ll take to see the egg shortage ease up in Utah.
“It’s hard to say exactly when we would see that start to come back,” Woolstenhulme said.
