Utah man dead after crash on I-80 near Battle Mountain, Nevada

SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah man was killed in a crash on Interstate 80 near Battle Mountain, Nevada.
According to a press release from the Nevada State Department of Public Safety, on Saturday, Sept. 20, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle crash on I-80, approximately 48 miles east of Battle Mountain, Nevada.
“Preliminary investigation determined that a white Peterbilt combination tractor/trailer commercial motor vehicle (CMV) was traveling west on I-80 in the left westbound travel lane. For unknown reasons, the driver of the CMV allowed the vehicle to run off the left side of the road, enter the center median, causing the vehicle to overturn,” Sgt. Bradley Osuch wrote in the press release.
The driver was identified as 54-year-old Robb Johnson of West Jordan, Utah. Johnson sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and asking the public to contact the NHP Elko Office at (775) 753-1111 or email ncemirt@dps.state.nv.us if they were a witness to this incident or have any information regarding the crash.
