SALT LAKE CITY — A single-vehicle accident killed a driver and sent a passenger to the hospital Monday morning.
According to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 8:12 a.m., first responders were called to a vehicle accident in the area of Powder Mountain Resort.
“Initial reports indicated that a commercial vehicle drifted onto the right shoulder of a dirt road near a construction site, causing the vehicle to roll over,” the office said in a press release.
The office said that bystanders began CPR on the 31-year-old driver from Salt Lake City until first responders arrived. However, the driver died at the scene.
A 26-year-old passenger from Tooele suffered serious injuries from the crash and was flown by air ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the driver during this difficult time,” the office said.
The crash was under investigation by the Weber Metro CRASH Unit. The office is withholding the name of the driver pending notification of the next of kin.
