It’s a girl! Here’s the first baby born in Utah in 2026

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s first baby of 2026 was born at Intermountain Health St. George Regional Hospital. Valley Zohner clocked in at 12:09 a.m. on Jan. 1, standing 20.5 inches and weighing 6 lbs. and 1 oz.

Like many expectant parents, the Zohners had a plan. According to a statement from Intermountain Health, they intended to go to the hospital on New Year’s to be induced. But when they arrived they learned she was already mid-labor.

Mom said she wasn’t feeling the contractions.

“This delivery was very easy and went very well. Baby came very fast and easy compared to my last baby,” said Kenedi Zohner. “All of the nurses have been nice, and lovely. They are great at their jobs.”

In 2025, more than 2,700 babies born at St. George Regional Hospital.
