Former Utah Congresswoman Mia Love’s cancer is progressing

SALT LAKE CITY — Former Utah Congresswoman Mia Love’s brain cancer is no longer responding to treatment, and is progressing.
In an X post, Love’s daughter Abigale said on Saturday that their family is preparing to spend time with Love and shift their focus away from cancer treatment.
“Sadly (Love’s) cancer is no longer responding to treatment and the cancer is progressing,” Abigale said in the X post. “We have a shifted our focus from treatment to enjoying our remaining time with her.”

Abigale said she is asking people to send photos of Love to her at MiaLoveMemories@gmail.com so that she can create an “archive of special memories with Mia.”
Mia’s story
From 2015 to 2019, Mia served as a United States Congresswoman for Utah’s 4th Congressional District.
In Feb. 2022 was first diagnosed with a form of brain cancer. Doctors gave her about 10-15 months to live. Since then she has spoken about how her experience with brain cancer and how her faith has been an essential part of the journey.
In Aug. 2023 she spoke to young Latter-day Saints at a YSA Area Conference and said that no trial is too big for God.
Loved ones reach out
On the post Mia’s daughter posted on Love’s X account many friends are sharing their thoughts and prayers.
Utah Attorney General Derek Brown said that Mia’s service to Utah has inspired him and countless others.
“Our hearts and prayers are with her family during this challenging time,” continued Brown.
“Mia Love has served Utah with integrity, and her strength and grace continue to inspire us. Our hearts are with Mia and her family during this difficult time. Utah stands with you,” said Gov. Spencer Cox.
“Mia and I have been friends for 16 years. “Refrigerator friends” is what she calls us. BFFs who can walk into each other’s houses without knocking and rummage around in the fridge,” said Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson. “Her courage and faith are so inspiring. I wish this terrible disease was one that could be beaten.”
