2 National Park Service rangers involved in shooting at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

BULLFROG, Utah — Two National Park Service law enforcement officers were involved in a shooting at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on May 3.
According to the National Park Service, the rangers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Highway 89 at approximately 8 p.m. Before responding, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office sent a warning about a “potentially dangerous suspect.”
The vehicle was near the Lone Rock Beach Campground, a primitive camping area in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
As officers attempted to stop the suspect, the press release stated their subject drove their vehicle into a patrol vehicle. Rangers fired shots in response.
At this time, the suspect is in custody. The NPS said they were treated for non-critical injuries at the Page Hospital. Neither of the officers were injured.
Kane County, the National Park Service, and the FBI are investigating the situation.
On May 8, Gregory Aaron Farley, of Hazelton, Idaho, was charged with one count of assault on a federal officer, according to the complaint filed in U.S. District Court in St. George.
