2 Utah campgrounds featured on camping reservation website’s list of favorite destinations

SALT LAKE CITY — Two Utah campgrounds recently ranked in Hipcamp’s “50 Favorite Places to Camp in America Right Now.”
The website helps campers find outdoor sites to stay at, similar to Airbnb or Vrbo.
Both the featured Utah campgrounds are near Zion National Park, the most visited of the state’s Mighty Five. They sit among a diverse list of offerings for anyone looking to enjoy some time outside.
According to CEO and founder Alyssa Ravasio, the list is the first featuring Hipcamp’s favorite spots.
“We are excited to unveil our first ever list of our 50 favorite places to camp in America right now. With peak camping season upon us, this diverse list of incredible destinations caters to every type of camper.”
Zion Wright Ranch Eco-Camp
Located in Virgin, the Zion Wright Ranch Eco-camp boasts 60 sites for recreational vehicles and tent camping. Per Hipcamp, the Utah campground is an environmentally-conscious spot offering views of the red rock formations Zion National Park is famous for.
According to Zion Wright Family Ranch, which owns and operates the site, the area offers an off-grid experience and room to roam away from the crowds that often visit Zion National Park.
The ranch also offers horseback riding and glamping, according to its website.
“We’re beyond thrilled to be named one of Hipcamp’s 50 Favorite Campgrounds,” Bill and Megan Wright, the owners of Zion Wright Ranch, said. “Hosting campers from around the world has been such a joy—helping people unplug, enjoy nature, and escape the crowded campgrounds is what it’s all about.”
To access the park from this campground, you will need to drive 39 minutes.
Jellystone Park Zion
Located in Hurricane, Jellystone Park campground is a new space dedicated to RV camping, glamping and family fun.
Although it’s on Hipcamp’s list of campgrounds, Jellystone Park Zion offers much more than just a place to set up your RV and roast marshmallows. Some may argue the visitor experience is more similar to an amusement park than traditional camping, as it offers water attractions and opportunities to snap a photo with mascot characters.
The Hurricane location is part of a chain of Yogi Bear-themed campgrounds across the U.S. and Canada. According to the company’s website, each campus includes everything families need to make lifelong memories.

Although the park touts itself as a Utah campground near Zion National Park, it is a 45-minute drive away from the park.
What criteria did the Utah campgrounds meet?
A press release explained that Hipcamp selected the spots on the list using specific criteria, which included positive reviews, regional trends and culture.
Currently, people are choosing to vacation closer to home. Some may choose Utah campgrounds as a more affordable alternative to other lodging options.
Ravasio said the list was crafted in hopes of inspiring outdoor adventure.
“By shining a light on our favorite campgrounds, we hope to make it easier than ever for campers to find the right outdoor experience for them they will love.”
