SALT LAKE CITY — A foundation to fight homelessness has made a major donation to homeless resource centers in Salt Lake City.
The Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation donated $10 million on Thursday to Shelter the Homeless’ resource centers in Salt Lake City. They announced at a press conference at the Gail Miller Resource Center.
“(The donation is) to make sure that these resource centers and this Gail Miller Resource Center will in perpetuity be able to look the way it does now, to be able to be beautiful forever and have all that it needs to be able to care for these vulnerable people,” said Josh Romney, president and chair of Shelter the Homeless.
Shelter the Homeless’ resource centers provide emergency shelters, case management, housing searches, job training, medical care and more.
Attendees at the press conference also heard from Shelter the Homeless Executive Director Laurie Hopkins, Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall, incoming state homeless representative Tyler Clancy and Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation Chair Gail Miller.
“This money will ensure that the facility continues to evolve,” Miller said. “It will continue to improve and it will continue to serve as the gateway for individuals who are seeking a fresh start.”
