Kickoff to Christmas returns to St. George Historic Town Square

SALT LAKE CITY — As the smells of Thanksgiving dinner begin to fade into memory, the sounds of Christmas are ready to replace them.
St. George will host the annual Kickoff to Christmas Monday night at 6 p.m. in the St. George Historic Town Square, beginning the Christmas season with choir performances from local youth and a visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.
“This event is one of our favorite ways to start the holiday season,” said Emerson Watanabe, Recreation Manager for the City of St. George. “Our Parks employees work hard to create Christmas magic for the community to come out and enjoy.”
In addition to photo opportunities with Santa, the St. George Carousel and St. George Children’s Museum will remain open until 8 p.m.
While the Kickoff to Christmas is free, along with complimentary hot chocolate and cookies provided by Hedgehog Electric while supplies last, the Carousel and Children’s Museum will still apply normal fees for attendance.
“We love seeing Historic Town Square lit up and filled with smiling faces,” added Watanabe. “From watching the lights turn on for the first time to visits from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, this event is all about celebrating the joy this time of year brings to our community.”
Parking for the event is located in the new St. George City Hall parking garage, located immediately west of city hall (61 South Main Street).
