Man dead after crash with backhoe in Jensen

SALT LAKE CITY — A man is dead after crashing into a backhoe on a highway in Jensen.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, on Saturday at approximately 5:35 p.m., a John Deere backhoe was being escorted by a pickup truck traveling eastbound on state Route 40 near Ashley Creek Street.
Both vehicles attempted to turn left when a gray Toyota Camry traveling eastbound collided with the rear of the backhoe while attempting to pass the vehicles in a no-passing zone, UHP said.
The backhoe operator sustained minor injuries, and the driver of the Camry, a 37-year-old male from Vernal, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The male driver was then airlifted to Salt Lake City, where he ultimately passed away from his injuries.
