Man jailed after ‘No Kings’ rally to be released as state considers charges

SALT LAKE CITY — The man who has been held in the Salt Lake County Jail since a fatal shooting at the “No Kings” rally has been released, according to new court documents obtained Friday.

But this isn’t the end for Arturo Gamboa’s legal battles: The state has agreed to release Gamboa under strict conditions:

1. He must follow level three conditions with Pretrial Services
2. He must live with his father, giving his address to Pretrial Services
3. He may not possess any firearms
4. He must turn over his passport to his legal counsel

“After the preliminary review of evidence presented to the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office’s Homicide team, it was determined that we will not be able to make an informed decision by Monday at 5pm as to the culpability, if any, as to Mr. Gamboa in relation to the fatal shooting of Arthur Folasa Ah Loo at the ‘No Kings’ Protest on Saturday, June 14, 2025,” the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office said Friday.

The case is still under investigation, and Gamboa could still be charged, although evidence suggests he did not ever fire his gun.

“The investigation will continue to be carried out by the Salt Lake City Police Department. The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office will continue to review as additional evidence is presented to us,” the attorney’s office said.
