SALT LAKE CITY — One man was killed in Garfield County Tuesday night after crashing on state Route 12 and being thrown from the vehicle, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
At approximately 6:45 p.m., a green Jeep Cherokee was traveling near mile marker 52, near Escalante, and ran off the road.
Lt. Cameron Roden with UHP said it first veered right before correcting to the left and crossing the center line. It swerved a few more times, he said, before leaving the roadway completely on the left side and rolling multiple times.
The driver, a 46-year-old man who was later identified as Joshua Griffin, was ejected as the Jeep rolled and was killed, Roden said. He was the only person inside the Jeep.
