SALT LAKE CITY — A 62-year-old Logan man, Kelly Thayne Archibald, is missing. Officials say his vehicle was found in Bingham County, Idaho.

He was reported missing by a friend on June 27. Then his son called officials to report he was missing on July 2.

The Bingham County Sheriff’s office got involved on July 4, when a caller told them he’d seen an abandoned vehicle near Coffee Point, which is an unincorporated town. The caller had first seen the vehicle on June 27, but he told officials he saw the vehicle again on July 4, in the same spot.

When Bingham County officials checked out the vehicle, they discovered that it was out of gas. They recovered Archibald’s name in the truck’s documents, and then coordinated with the Logan Police Department.

Missing man description, mental state

Kelly Thayne Archibald is described as a 62-year-old white man. He may be in what officials called a “state of delirium.” He left his vehicle with no shoes on, officials said. And he left his cell phone behind.

A search is already in progress. Bingham County deputies said they’ve recovered a long sleeve button up roper shirt they think Archibald removed as he traveled eastbound from his truck.

“It is our understanding he is skilled in survival and is quite resourceful,” officials said in a statement. They believe that many of the avenues of foot travel available to Archibald, based on the location of his truck, can lead to main roads.

Anybody who has seen Archibald, or has had contact with him or his vehicle, is asked to call 208-785-1234.

We want to hear from you.
