Missing woman’s remains found in Millcreek Canyon

MOAB, Utah — The remains of a missing woman found in Millcreek Canyon on Monday have been identified as Maranda Ankofski, who along with her husband Ray Ankofski was reported missing in late June of 2024.
According to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, the remains of the missing woman were found in Millcreek Canyon on Monday, July 22. They were identified on Saturday.
Ray Ankofski remains missing.
The Ankofskis were initially reported missing when they failed to return from a trip on the Steel Bender off-road trail in Grand County. A large search and rescue operation failed to locate the couple
“The Grand County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to Maranda Ankofski’s family and friends during this difficult time,” the Grand County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
“We understand the profound impact this news may have on the community and are committed to providing updates as more information becomes available.”
