One killed after motorcycle crash near Canyonlands National Park

SALT LAKE CITY – One person died after crashing their motorcycle near Canyonlands National Park Thursday, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

At approximately 2:10 p.m., deputies received word that a motorcycle had crashed on County Road 143, “near the entrance of Canyonlands National Park,” according to a Facebook post from the Sheriff’s Office.
National Park Rangers were reportedly first on scene, and performed life-saving measures. The motorcyclist died from injuries at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The motorcyclist’s identity was not released at the time of publication, pending next-of-kin are notified.
On Thursday, another fatal crash occurred on County Road 313 near the Lisbon Valley Mine, according to the San Juan Sheriff’s Office.
“The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office would like to offer our condolences to the families involved and thank everyone that assisted in both these incidents on 05/08/25 from the Utah Highway Patrol, National Park Service, EMT from Libson Valley Mine, LaSal Fire, LaSal EMS, Monticello EMS and our Deputies.”
On Facebook, the San Juan County Sheriff’s office included a reminder to drive carefully and follow three rules of the road.
