Firefighters respond to three different ‘suspicious’ fires near Orem

SALT LAKE CITY — Firefighters responded to three different fires Monday afternoon and said the causes were “suspicious.”

Shaun Hirst with the Orem Fire Department said the first fire began around 3:30 p.m. near the Top Golf facility in Vineyard, Utah.

Within 30 minutes of the first fire, two others began. One was on Center St. and the other was nearby. All three fires were within a mile of each other.

According to Hirst, the largest fire was on Center St., which burned around an acre. The roadway was shut down for a period but has since reopened.

Hirst said the fires damaged mostly brush and caused no injuries. Officials said that by 7:15 p.m. on Monday, the fires were out.

Provo Fire & Rescue assisted in extinguishing the fires.

Authorities are investigating the cause of each fire.
