Payson community is mourning the passing of a first responder

PAYSON, Utah — The Payson community is mourning the loss of firefighter/EMT Eric Adams, who passed away early Monday morning. According to a Facebook posting by Payson Fire and Rescue, the first responder died from a fall while he was off duty. 

“Our hearts are broken, and we will miss Eric for his hard work and dedication to the citizens and visitors to Payson City as well as his smile, laugh and great humor,” the Facebook posting read.

Payson Police also issued a statement on Facebook regarding the loss of one of their colleagues.

“We are heartbroken for his family and his first responder family,” the statement read. “Our officers had the privilege and honor of working with Eric and will all agree that he was a true professional and always had a smile on his face whether he was called out at 2 in the afternoon or 2 in the morning he was there to help.”

According to Payson Fire and Rescue, a viewing for Adams will be held Monday. It will be held at Walker Mortuary in Payson from 6 to 8 p.m. His funeral will be Tuesday also in Payson at 11 a.m.

Adams leaves behind a wife and four children.
