PERRY, Box Elder County — One woman was killed and another was seriously injured after a tree branch fell on them in Perry Park on Wednesday, police confirmed.

The Perry City Police Department said it happened just before 5:00 p.m. An 80-year-old woman and a 28-year-old woman were struck by the large branch, and the 80-year-old died on scene, the department said.

The 28-year-old was taken to the Brigham City Community Hospital in serious condition, police said.

“Perry City, Perry PD, Perry EMS, and our community as a whole are heartbroken over the tragic and sudden loss of life,” the police department said in a press release. “Our thoughts are with the family of those involved and we as a community are grieving with them.”
