Riverdale police identify woman found stabbed inside a fiery trailer, ahead of Amber Alert involving her two children

RIVERDALE, Weber County — Police have identified a young mother found inside a trailer that was on fire Monday night.
When rescue officials arrived at the scene near 5100 South and 1000 West, they entered the trailer and found Mayra Catalan-Dimas, age 23. Riverdale Police Chief Casey Warren said Catalan-Dimas was unresponsive.
“Despite efforts to provide aid,” Warren said in a statement, “she was unfortunately found to be deceased.”
An investigation began, and police determined that Catalan-Dimas had been stabbed and was a homicide victim. KSL TV reported that investigators tied an accelerant to the fire and found gas cans inside the trailer. At that time, officials declared that the fire was arson.
Then, officials learned that the woman’s two children, ages 2 and 3, were missing from their home.
“Their father, Ricardo Trujillo, age 29, was also unaccounted for,” Warren said.
Riverdale police initiate search for father, children, truck
Not long after Catalan-Dimas was found dead, and after police spoke with the victim’s family, an Amber Alert was issued for her two children and for Trujillo. Riverdale police included a description of the suspect’s vehicle and license plate. Four hours later, someone called police to say they’d seen the vehicle, a 2007 Ford F-15, on the side of a road in Springville Canyon.
According to KSL TV, that person also reported seeing an adult male with two small children walking up the left fork of Hobble Creek Canyon in the middle of the road.
Trujillo reportedly resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody. The children were initially placed with Child Protective Services, but police said they were later released to members of their family.
Police said Trujillo was booked into the Weber County Jail on suspicion of aggravated murder and aggravated arson. Both are felonies.
