Driver crashes into Riverton living room after ‘medical episode,’ police said

SALT LAKE CITY — A home in Riverton has been deemed unsafe for occupancy after fire officials said a driver suffered a medical episode and then crashed through the back of a garage and into a living space.
Unified Fire spokesperson Kelly Bird said the accident happened at a four-plex on Atala Way in Riverton around 5 p.m. on Sunday. Bird said a load-bearing wall was compromised in the crash.
The driver was pulling into their garage when the medical episode occurred.
Unified Fire’s heavy rescue responded to the call, Bird said.
While there was reportedly a transport to a hospital, Bird could not confirm how many people were injured or the extent of their injuries.
