SALT LAKE CITY — A person was hospitalized after a police officer shot them in Salt Lake City early Friday.
According to Glen Mills with the Salt Lake City Police Department, police officers were serving a warrant for a “high risk arrest” close to 49 S. 800 East just after midnight when the person was shot. Police did not give a reason as to why the person was shot.
Immediate medical care was provided for the person, who was then taken to the hospital and was expected to survive. No police officers were hurt.
According to Mills, the person had an extensive criminal history.
The Unified Police Department took over investigation into the shooting.
