Plans for 300 West bikeway hit roadblock

SALT LAKE CITY — Plans for a bike path connecting the 300 West bikeway to Pioneer Park have hit a snag.

The project has been in the works since February, with construction slated to start this month.

But last week, the city updated the project page and announced that the Utah Department of Transportation requested the removal of the block between 300 South and 400 South from the plans.

No reason has been given for the sudden change. But it follows a recently passed bill granting the state more control over Salt Lake’s roads.

Now, the project page for the 300 West bikeway says the city is working on alternatives for the crossing from 400 South. Construction will start this month, beginning at 900 South.
