Utah Jazz owner will build new indoor music venue in downtown Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY — On Tuesday, Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith and the Smith Entertainment Group announced plans to build a new indoor music venue in downtown Salt Lake City.
As a part of the new Sports, Entertainment, Culture, and Convention Center District, the venue will be built in-between the existing Delta Center and Salt Palace Convention Center.
Smith Entertainment Group will partner with Live Nation Entertainment to build the new music space. In a press release, Smith Entertainment Group said the venue will seat 6,000 people.
For comparison, the Delta Center can seat from 12,000 to 19,000 people.
The new venue is expected to host 200 events annually, according to the press release, including 100 concerts.
“We have seen the incredible impact hockey has had on downtown, bringing hundreds of thousands of more people to the City and spurring amazing economic growth for downtown businesses,” Smith said in a press release.
“Not only will it [the music venue] bring the best artists in the world to Utah, but it will also bring a million people downtown to experience Salt Lake City every year,” he said.
