SALT LAKE CITY — The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System officially opens its new food pantry Wednesday morning at 10 a.m.
One in ten Americans face food insecurity and our Nation’s Veterans are not immune.
According to a press release, veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom are 27% more likely to face food insecurity; for women Veterans that number is 28%.
The new, larger pantry gives the VA the ability to provide more Veterans with a greater variety of food to help them in times of need.
The pantry is located at the VA Medical Center on Foothill Drive. It is available open to any veteran enrolled in VA healthcare, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
