SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department announced weekend travel impacts in Salt Lake City from both the Days of ’47 Parade and the Deseret News Marathon. Anyone traveling through the city on Saturday, July 23 should plan for road closures.
The SLCPD said anyone living, working or visiting Salt Lake City should avoid the closures or delay traveling by them if possible.
The Days of ’47 Parade begins Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at South Temple and State Street.
Saturday will also see the Deseret News Marathon cut through the city along the parade route as participants make their way to the finish line at Liberty Park. The full marathon will start at 5:30 a.m., while the half and 10K begin at 6:00 a.m. and the 5K starts at 7:00 a.m.
The SLCPD advised there would be multiple road closures to accommodate the parade and marathon. The map below, provided by the SLCPD, shows the road closures affecting both routes.
“To help ensure the safety of participants and spectators, traffic will be allowed to cross over the marathon route, when possible, but traffic will not be allowed to cross the parade route until the parade is finished,” the SLCPD said.
The SLCPD also advised that some of the closures could be in place for up to seven hours.
