UPS expects to hire 1,290 employees ahead of the holiday season in SLC

SALT LAKE CITY — A press release from UPS announced the hiring of around 1,290 additional employees in the Salt Lake City area, ahead of the holiday season. UPS says in just 25 minutes most people can fill out an application and receive a job offer.

Also, about 80% of seasonal positions require no interview. 

Nando Cesarone,  Executive Vice President and President of U.S. Operations, says the company has made its hiring process as easy as possible. 

Full and part-time seasonal positions are available. Specifically, seasonal drivers, package handlers and driver helpers. UPS says it’s even offering competitive wages. 

The starting pay for seasonal package car driver positions is $21 per hour. Tractor-trailer driver positions start at $30 per hour. 

“UPS’s strength has always been our people, and we are excited about the opportunity to welcome new UPSers to our team as we deliver what matters for our customers this holiday season,” said Cesarone. 

Worried about being out of a job after the holiday season? UPS says nearly 35,000 seasonal employees got permanent positions following the 2021 holidays. 

A full-time UPS package delivery driver makes an average of $95,000 per year, with an additional $50,000 in contributions to health. 

Furthermore, UPS offers the opportunity to earn money for college tuition and expenses. Through the company’s Earn and Learn program, employees can earn up to $25,000 for college. 

“UPS invested $30 million in education assistance programs in 2021,” said UPS.
