Hill Air Force Base’s Santa Brigade help foster families make holidays possible

DAVIS COUNTY, Utah — Every year the men and women from Hill Air Force Base form the “Santa Brigade” and donate their time to deliver gifts to foster families in Utah.
Airmen from the base met up Wednesday morning at the Utah Foster Care office to pick up donated gifts. They then hand-deliver them to foster families from Draper to Logan.
The airmen deliver the 600 gifts on their own time and with their own vehicles.
Crystal Ashton is a foster parent of four and has three biological children. She previously received help from the Santa Brigade.
“To just know that my four little ones were receiving gifts that they wanted and would love, and [the Santa Brigade] took that off my plate and I could focus on other more important things going on. It was huge,” she said.

Since then, Ashton worked on her master’s degree and currently works with Utah Foster Care.
Utah currently has 2,000 children in foster care and less than 1,000 licensed foster families.
