SPANISH FORK — A pedestrian was taken to the hospital in critical condition Thursday morning after officials said they were hit by a vehicle while crossing an intersection in Spanish Fork.
The city of Spanish Fork released a statement saying the pedestrian, a 62-year-old woman, died at the hospital. She was hit at approximately 7:42 a.m. and the intersection of state Route 51 and Spanish Fork Parkway, the statement said.
The statement said the driver stayed on scene and was cooperating with police. Authorities believe the driver was traveling eastbound on Spanish Fork Parkway and turning left when the collision happened.
“This is a heartbreaking outcome, and our hearts are with the woman’s family during this incredibly difficult time,” Spanish Fork Police Chief Matt Johnson said. “We also recognize that incidents like this deeply affect everyone involved, and our thoughts are with them as well.”
The Utah County Accident Reconstruction Team was investigating the incident.
