PARK CITY, Utah — The Sundance Film Festival began celebrating its 40th anniversary on Jan. 23, wrapping up the 2025 festivities on Sunday.
In a news release, the SFF said the final award announced on Sunday was for the Festival Favorite Award.
“Chosen by audience votes from the feature films screening at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, the Festival Favorite Award was presented to Come See Me in the Good Light,” the news release said.
According to IMBD, the film tells the story of two poets who fall in love in the midst of an incurable diagnosis.
“Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley go on an unexpectedly funny and poignant journey through love, life, and mortality,” the SFF news release said.
The news release also stated the upcoming dates for the 2026 film festival, which will be Jan. 22, 2026 to Feb. 1, 2026. The news release said the festival will happen at Salt Lake City and Park City.
“As this year’s Festival comes to a close, we’re already looking ahead to 2026 and what will no doubt be an unforgettable experience!” Director of Sundance Film Festival and Public Programming Eugene Hernandez said in the news release. “We invite you to save the date and get ready to join us in Park City and Salt Lake City one year from now at Sundance 2026; it will be a Festival you won’t want to miss!”
The SFF also announced the top five runner-ups for the Festival Favorite Award:

“The past 11 days of the Festival have been a meaningful opportunity to connect as a community in support of independent storytelling,” Acting CEO of Sundance Institute Amanda Kelso said in the news release. “We look forward to being reunited with audiences, artists, industry, and press next January for another edition of the Festival.”
