DRAPER, Utah — State leaders are asking for your help with a part of the new development set for the old prison site in Draper, known as The Point.

It will start with its center being developed. That center will be known as The HUB.

Lincoln Property Co., Wadsworth Bros. Colmena Group have been selected from a nationwide pool of applicants to help develop the land.

“This will be a retail, entertainment, restaurant hub — a place where people will gather,” said Executive Director Alan Matheson says they also want help to design the central focal point. “Architecture, landscape art, some kind of sculpture. Members of the public will be able to provide specific ideas.”

Leaders say when it’s done the point will bring significant economic returns, and also focus on serving the educational, and housing needs of the area. Planners told KSL NewsRadio in 2020, that it would be one of the greenest developments around.

Draper Mayor Troy Walker also touted the open space the project will have.

“You’ll be able to work in The Point and hop an e-bike or regular bike, and ride across, and be up in our canyon for lunch… and be back to work after lunch,” said Walker. “It’s truly an opportunity for people to enjoy the quality of life.”

Project leaders say cars will not be king at The Point.
