WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — It’s the end of an era for a popular Utah flea market. The Redwood Drive-In Swap Meet in West Valley City closed Sunday for the final time.
The Redwood Drive-In Swap Meet — a place to find food, clothes, power tools, really a little of everything. For 75 years it’s been a weekend staple in West Valley City, but Sunday is the final day, closing to make room for new development. Vendors are packing up their belongings and in a bit of disbelief.
“They really just can’t believe that today is our last day,” vendor Cristian Gutierrez Carbajal said.
John Croshaw has been selling floor mats and seat covers there since 1980.
“I’ve enjoyed it, I’ve got a lot of good friends here, it’s put a couple of the kids through college,” Croshaw said.
Customers coming to support him and others can’t picture this place without it.
“It’s part of West Valley and has been for I don’t know how many years,” Kevin Hansen said, who came out to support the swap meet.
Many are just sad to see it go.
“I feel like everyone we’ve been coming here since we were kids,” Elvia Anaya said.
