Here’s our interview 👇 with UDOT’s Mitch Shaw on the brand new West Davis Corridor.

SALT LAKE CITY —  One of the largest projects undertaken by the Utah Department of Transportation will be ready for drivers, ahead of schedule.

The West Davis Corridor, also known as SR-177, will open on Jan. 6. Construction began on the 16-mile, four-lane highway in 2021.

The new highway begins at the Legacy Parkway Interchange, “which is at Glover’s Lane in Farmington,” said UDOT spokesman Mitch Shaw.

“It’ll go all the way to (SR) 193 in West Point. It’ll have an interchange system, on- and off-ramps.”

And it should be a huge benefit for the community, Shaw continued. “It’s going to make commute times shorter.”

“It’s another highway for people to use, takes traffic off of I-15, the road the people use to commute.”

The West Davis Corridor is expected to reduce delays on roads west of I-15 by as much as 30%.

Before the road opens to drivers on Jan. 6, UDOT will hold a celebration that will include a two-mile fun run. People can walk, run, or bike right on the highway before it opens to vehicles at 11:30 a.m.

Along with providing an alternate for I-15 drivers, SR-177 will offer ten miles of walking and biking trails. According to a UDOT website, the new trails will “create a consolidated trail system connecting Emigration Trail to Legacy Parkway Trail.”
