GRAND COUNTY, Utah — Two people are dead after a head-on collision between two semi-trucks Monday morning.
According to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden, the accident occurred on SR-191 just south of I-70 at 4:35 a.m.
Authorities say an international semi-truck was driving northbound near milepost 154 when it drifted across the center line into southbound traffic. At the same time, a Kenworth semi-truck traveling south was unable to avoid the oncoming semi, and they collided.
Traffic was blocked in both directions for several hours as emergency personnel conducted the investigation and clean up from the semi-truck head-on collision.
The semi-truck collision resulted in two fatalities.
Authorities say the driver of the international semi-truck was killed on impact. The driver has been identified as 54-year-old from Salt Lake City.
The driver of the Kenworth truck was treated at the scene. However, the driver passed away before medical helicopter could arrive to transport the driver. He was identified as Clark Hatch, age 54, from Koosharem.
