SALT LAKE CITY — Multiple scheduled closures will take place this weekend along Interstate 15 as the Utah Department of Transportation installs steel support beams for the new 4400 South bridge and pours concrete for multiple bridges.

UDOT urged drivers to prepare for the closures, which will occur from Friday night to Saturday morning and from Saturday night to Sunday morning.

Northbound I-15 will be closed near 4400 South and the Ogden-Hinckley Airport from 11 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, with all lanes scheduled to reopen at 9 a.m. Saturday. During the closure, northbound traffic will be detoured onto Riverdale Road until it reaches northbound Interstate 84.

Southbound I-15 will be closed at 10:30 p.m. Saturday to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, with all lanes scheduled to reopen by 11 a.m. Southbound traffic will be directed to Exit 340 at 4400 South, utilizing Riverdale Road to then reenter southbound I-15.

Additional interstate closures

Two further projects will take place along interstate this weekend, one in Farmington along I-15 and one near Glendale along Interstate 215.

As part of the Shepard Lane Interchange Improved project, I-15 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between Glovers Lane and Park Lane on Friday night. The construction is scheduled to last from 8 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday.

During that time, crews will be pouring concrete for a new pedestrian bridge deck. Additional details about the project can be found on the UDOT website. The Shepard Lane Interchange Improved project is “expected to finish by the end of the year.”

Southbound I-215 is scheduled to reduce to one lane on Friday from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning to allow crews to pour concrete for a new bridge deck at California Avenue.

Lane closures along I-215 will occur from Interstate 80 to south of California Avenue. The southbound I-215 ramp to California Avenue will also be closed.
