Utah storm will bring rain, snow to Thursday morning commute

SALT LAKE CITY — Gusting winds impacting America’s entire western coast will blow another winter storm into Utah with the potential for valley snow.
KSL Meteorologist Matt Johnson said they know the Utah storm is coming, but they are unclear whether commuters will have to deal with rain or snow.
THURSDAY STORM: The freezing line with this storm is going to hover above the valley floor, hence the wide range in valley totals. We’ll also be seeing rain/snow potentially around the AM commute!

Whether valley commuters get rain or snow on Thursday morning will be determined by how high or how low the freezing mark will hit.

“It (will) sit right around 4,900 to 4,500 feet during the brunt of the rain and snow, which could put the snowline close enough to the valley floor that we could see all snow,” Johnson said.
He expects from one to three inches of snow on the northern valley floors by Thursday afternoon. More snow is expected in Ogden and areas north of Ogden.
The Utah storm is expected to start blowing in Wednesday night around midnight.
