SALT LAKE CITY — Utah is set to heavily benefit from Apple’s big investment in U.S. manufacturing.
President Donald Trump joined Apple CEO Tim Cook to announce a $100 billion investment at the White House on Wednesday, bringing its total U.S. investment to $600 billion over the next four years.
Apple says part of its investment is making a new commitment with Texas Instruments, which will allow the company to install new equipment at Apple’s silicon chip-making facility in Lehi.
“Apple will help develop and manufacture semiconductors and semiconductor equipment in Texas, Utah, Arizona and New York,” Trump said during the announcement.
Utah was one of 10 states Apple listed that will play a role in its “significant expansion” over the next four years.
“This will support high-paying jobs, national security, and long-term economic strength in Utah,” Gov. Spencer Cox said in an X post.
The Beehive State even played a part in the big announcement at the Oval Office when Apple CEO Tim Cook presented a gift to Trump.
The gift, made of glass, had a 24-karat gold base from Utah.
