UTAH COUNTY, Utah — A wanted parole fugitive was taken into custody Wednesday night by the Utah County Sheriff’s Office after the suspect rammed two police vehicles in an attempt to escape.

According to a news release, a deputy with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office was driving northbound on I-15 near Lehi. He identified the driver of another vehicle as Chad Michael Llewellyn, 29, of Spanish Fork.

Wanted parole fugitive

The deputy discovered that Llewellyn was a fugitive and there was an active warrant for his arrest by the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole. The warrant stated that Llewellyn should be considered armed and dangerous.

As a result, the deputy called for backup to make a traffic stop.

According to police, Llewellyn got off I-15 at 14600 South in Draper. From there, he drove to a Maverick gas station and stopped his vehicle at a gas pump.

According to the news release, police followed Llewellyn to the gas station and surrounded his vehicle. They ordered him out of his vehicle. However, he accelerated and rammed two police vehicles, police say.

Eventually, police broke windows on both sides of the vehicle and were able to pull Llewellyn and his passenger out of the vehicle. At that point, police say they were able to put the car in park and turn it off.

Drugs discovered

Police say when they inventoried the vehicle, they discovered large sums of methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl, along with drug paraphernalia. Police also say while no firearms were found, two large lock-blade knives were discovered.

Additionally, police say there were no serious injuries reported in the incident. However, they do say one of the police vehicles that were rammed is likely a total loss.

In addition to the Board of Pardons warrant, Llewellyn was booked into the Utah County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault, which is a third-degree felony, according to police. He was also booked on suspicion of three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a first-degree felony.

Furthermore, the suspect was booked on suspicion of the following: failure to stop at command of police, a third-degree felony; DUI, a Class B misdemeanor; reckless endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class B misdemeanor.

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office says Llewellyn is being held without bail.
