SALT LAKE CITY — Some Weber County employees could soon be getting a pay raise.
In 2024, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office asked county commissioners to conduct an employee compensation study to determine whether their employees were being paid market rates.
The study revealed that while most county employees were getting paid on par with similar markets, sworn law enforcement officers weren’t.
“Our law enforcement was behind, and we knew that just because of deputies who were leaving for more pay to agencies nearby, said Weber County Commissioner Sharon Bolos.
As a result, the county has approved pay raises for those deputies, who will see the difference in their next paychecks.
“It’s not the same percentage all the way across the board. And it wasn’t with the sworn deputies either. So it’s an adjustment to bring everyone up to market,” Bolos said.
Bolos said they were able to find a way in the budget to do it, without increasing taxes. And in the next budget year, other county employees with wages below the market rate will also receive a pay boost.
