One person stabbed after altercation in West Valley City, suspect in custody

SALT LAKE CITY — A suspect is in custody after police say a person was stabbed during an altercation in West Valley City.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Friday night, police were notified of an altercation between two individuals at the Utah Transit Authority‘s West Valley Central Station.
According to UTA Spokesperson Mike Varanakis, the incident began as a verbal dispute and escalated when one individual was stabbed. The victim was transported to a local hospital.
The suspect was apprehended shortly after and is now in custody.
The scene has been secured, and police say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The investigation remains ongoing.
