SALT LAKE CITY — Local pest control companies are being inundated with calls about mice infestations.
Mountain West Pest President Michael Belnap said they’ve had so many calls about mice infestations, they’ve already gone through all of their mouse-control products that were meant to last the year.
The company had to do a big re-stock to keep up with demand.
“This is sort of abnormal. We’re talking about massive pallets of product coming in,” said Belnap.
Some Weber County residents took to social media to complain. Many said they never had mice in their homes in the decades they have lived there, until now.
Belnap thinks lingering warm temperatures have allowed mice to be active for longer. Additionally, local construction drives mice into new areas.
According to Belnap, Utah may not see any relief until it starts snowing.
“Probably the next 30 days, it’s going to be a little bit crazy,” he said.
Belnap advised sealing up even the smallest points of access in homes to prevent a mouse infestation. He said mice can fit into spaces as small as a dime.
