A 61-year-old man drowned at Pineview Reservoir on Saturday afternoon.
The drowning occurred near the Port Ramp Marina at the reservoir.
The Weber County Sheriff’s Office confirms that the man was described as “playing” in the water by bystanders. But soon after, they told officials, he was face down in the water.
A deputy from the Weber County Sheriff’s office happened to be on the scene, and was able to get to the victim “within seconds,” Lt. Cortney Ryan told KSL.
Emergency personnel from Weber Fire were dispatched to the scene and were helping in life-saving efforts, Ryan said. But the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lt. Ryan said that an investigation is underway but that, at this time, there is no indication of foul play.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending the notification of his family.
