SALT LAKE CITY — Decorating brand Wilton issued a voluntary recall of a ready-to-build candy kit. The kit did not include a milk allergen in its “Contains” section.

Wilton recalled the Ready to Build Chocolate Cookie Bunny Hutch Kit on March 25. The kit went out across the United States.

The company said the recall impacts lots 22005, 22006, and 22007. The lot number is on the side or the bottom of the kit.

Wilton issued the voluntary recall because the kit contains skim milk powder. The company said a consumer inquiry brought the issue to its attention.

The company said the ingredients list included the allergen, but the “Contains” section did not list milk as required.

The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 requires food labels to declare any major food allergens. Ingredients that include major food allergens and any proteins from the allergens must be declared.

The act defines the major allergens as: milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans.

Wilton ran an internal review and confirmed that the “Contains” section did not include milk.

The company said there have been no illnesses related to a milk allergy reported.

More information on the recall can be found on Wilton’s website.
