Suspect arrested after allegedly stabbing another man at Pioneer Park

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Police took a 38-year-old man into custody Thursday after he allegedly stabbed another man at Pioneer Park.
According to police, a call of a stabbing incident came in at 12:43 p.m.
Emergency personnel responded to a business near Pioneer Park where they discovered the victim with non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.
A short time later, the suspect, identified as Makuthe Deng, was taken into custody without incident.
According to information provided to the police, the two men are acquaintances. They got into a fight, and Deng stabbed the man. The circumstances leading up to the fight and stabbing were not provided.
Deng was booked into Salt Lake County Metro Jail under investigation for aggravated assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, public urination, and public intoxication.
No additional information on the Pioneer Park stabbing was available.
