Update: Wanship Fire fully contained

On Monday morning officials from Summit County said the Wanship Fire was 100% contained.
The #WanshipFire is 100% contained. Size remains at an estimated 40 acres. Crews will continue hotspot monitoring and cleanup today. Thank you to all the agencies who helped with this response.

Update July 18, 2022 7:00 a.m.
Summit County lifted evacuation orders that were put in place Sunday while firefighters worked on the Wanship fire.
Fire crews in Summit County spent the night watching to make sure the fire on the edge of Wanship didn’t flare up.
Evacuations have been lifted for those initially evacuated due to the #WanshipFire this evening.

Summit County has announced mandatory evacuations are in place due to the Wanship Fire.

A shelter has been set up at a church belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wanship. The Church is located at 30899 Old Lincoln Hwy.
The county estimates the fire has burned 40 acres. Additionally, it says the fire is 40% contained.
Update July 17, 2022 5:47 p.m.
Derek Siddoway with Summit County says the blaze has caused one home to be evacuated. Additionally, According to Utah Fire Info, six to 10 other structures are threatened.

The fire is estimated to be 40 acres in size and growing rapidly, according to Utah Fire Info.
Siddoway says the fire started on the top of a barn, then spread to other sheds and up a nearby hill.
The barn, Siddoway says, is a private antique barn made of wood. Antique wagons and other historic items inside burned in the fire.

According to UDOT Traffic, the blaze is affecting Old Lincoln Highway, causing it to close in both directions. It appears to be burning in an old barn structure.

According to Summit County, no other structures are threatened at this time.
It is not yet known how the fire began.
