TWIN FALLS, Idaho — A 30-year-old Utah man drowned in an accident at Pillar Falls on Saturday. The Twin Falls Sheriff’s Office confirmed Corey Grant Collard had been recreating in the area when the incident occurred.
According to Lori Stewart, a public information officer with the Twin Falls Sheriff’s Office, the call came in just after 1:30 p.m.
“He [Collard] got his foot stuck in the main chute of the fall and it sucked him in, ” said Stewart.
Collard was eventually pulled from the falls but Stewart said he was underwater for “quite some time.”
A personal boat transported Collard to the dock and received by medics and law enforcement. Collard was pronounced dead at the hospital later that day.
Stewart noted that Pillar Falls “is a very dangerous area.”
“It looks deceiving,” said Stewart. “The water on top of the falls is not very deep but the current in that main chute is pretty deadly.”
