SALT LAKE CITY — Buying a new or used car can be expensive. So, how can you make your car last longer?
A key to keeping your car running longer is regular check-ups. Paul Lankford, General Manager at Jerry Seiner South Jordan said it can be hard to know how often you should bring in your car.
One thing car owners can, do is open the owner’s manual and check to see how often their car should get regular maintenance. This is especially important for those who plan on keeping their car for more than a year.
Lankford noted that following that maintenance schedule will help get the most miles out of your car.
“Each car is different,” said Lankford. “Make sure you have an owner’s manual and a maintenance schedule.”
Lankford said doing the little things on time, — like regular oil changes, keeping filters clean and replacing tires before they become a hazard could save you money later.
Another tip for saving money is finding a mechanic you trust and who knows your car. This can help save money on unnecessary maintenance.
“If you’ve found a reputable dealer and you’ve got a service adviser that knows your car and knows you, you will definitely be in better hands,” said Lankford.
