DWR is asking for help from Utahns in new poaching investigation

SEVIER COUNTY, Utah — A new investigation into a poaching incident is underway and DWR (Division of Wildlife Resources) is asking for the public’s help.
Two bull elk were shot, killed and wasted in Sevier County on two different occasions. The first was on Oct. 8, which was the opening day of the spike bull hunt. According to a press release, the animal was found next to a cedar tree near an open sagebrush area.
The second and larger bull elk was killed sometime around Oct. 12. The animal was shot with a small caliber bullet.
Neither animal was used for meat. Instead, the DWR said both were left to waste, which Utah law said it is illegal. Both were shot at the Browns Hole area on Fishlake Mountain.
