SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Police Department announced the arrest of 26-year-old Ivy Chase Grant today.

Grant was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail with one charge of obstruction of justice.

On Friday, February 3, 2023, members of SLCPD’s SWAT Team, working with the SLCPD Homicide Squad, located Grant at a residence near 300 East Kensington Avenue. Officers took Grant into custody.

Officers were originally at the residence to look for, and collect, evidence.

The location of the other suspect in this case, 43-year-old Taddy Avalon Jackman, is still unknown at this time.

SLCPD believes Grant was involved in a stabbing case on February 2. Details of that case can be found here.

Detectives believe Grant has been lying about his involvement in the death of Charles Alires. Detectives are also concerned that if released, Grant may help Jackman “further his fugitive status.”
