One person dead following a stabbing in Salt Lake City suspect still at large

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police say one person has died following a stabbing Thursday afternoon.
Police say the stabbing occurred at the Palmer Court Apartments at 999 S. Main Street at 3:43 p.m.
Once officers arrived on the scene, they found a male in critical condition. The officers immediately provided first aid. And despite further assistance from paramedics and other first responders, the victim passed away at the scene.
Law enforcement is still searching for the suspect. Additionally, the investigation into the Salt Lake City stabbing is ongoing.
Police say the suspect fled the scene before authorities could arrive.
Police are still trying to determine the events that led up to the stabbing. Early in their investigation, authorities say there is no information to indicate this was a random event.
The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Charles Alires.
